Lecturers teach in Lena for Teachers: they create courses, and your school sees them here. Superadmins and Academic admins manage them from Lecturers in the sidebar. A K-12 school calls them Teachers, and other schools Instructors.

Invite a lecturer

1

Start an invitation

Choose Invite lecturer at the top of the sidebar, or Invite on the Lecturers page.
2

Enter who they are

Enter their First name, Last name and Email. Add a Title if you like, such as Dr. or Mr.: it’s how they’re addressed at your school.

Inviting Tunde Bakare, with his title.

3

Send it

Choose Invite. We email them to join your school. Someone new to Lena gets their sign-in details in that email; then they sign in to Lena for Teachers.
To change a lecturer’s title later, open them from the list, choose Edit, set the Title, and choose Save changes. Lecturers can also join your school themselves from Lena for Teachers, without an invitation. They enter their own title and staff ID, and appear in your list straight away. If someone joins who doesn’t teach at your school, remove them.

Import many lecturers

Open More actions beside Invite and choose Import. It works like importing students: download the template, fill it in, upload it, fix any rows Lena flags, then import and download the sign-in details PDF. The template is the same for every kind of school: Older Lena teacher templates still import. Their Faculty and Department columns are ignored. Importing someone who is already a lecturer at your school changes nothing. In Lena for Schools, you can only set a staff ID by importing.

See a lecturer’s courses

Open a lecturer to see their Details and their Courses, with a switch between Active and Past.

Remove a lecturer

Choose Remove from the row’s menu, or open the lecturer and choose Remove. They’re removed from your school. This can’t be undone. Before you confirm, Lena tells you what happens to their courses. Drafts that only they work on are deleted. Their other courses stay, with no lecturer, until you give each to someone. If they still own a course that’s running, Lena stops you: “This teacher owns N courses still running. Give each to another teacher first.” Choose See courses, give each course to someone (below), then remove them. If you select several lecturers and one owns a running course, remove that lecturer on their own.

Give a course to another lecturer

1

Find the course

Open the lecturer’s Courses tab. For a course whose lecturer has already left, go to Courses and open the Needs lecturer tab.
2

Choose Transfer ownership

Open the course row’s menu and choose Transfer ownership.
3

Pick the new owner

Search by name or email, choose a lecturer, and choose Give course. They become its Owner.

Troubleshooting

They’re already at your school. Search for them on the Lecturers page.
You need someone to give the course to. Invite another lecturer first.
