Quiz in the sidebar lists the quizzes from all your courses, on Open, Practice and Past tabs. Every question is multiple choice. There are two kinds of quiz:

Take it

1

Open the quiz and choose Start quiz

Choose the quiz in Quiz. The Details tab shows the time limit, the total marks, and when it opens and closes. Choose Start quiz.
2

Read the rules, then start

The next screen lists the rules. If the quiz closes before your time would run out, it tells you, for example: “Closes at 10:30, so you’ll have 12 minutes, not 20.” When you’re ready, choose Start quiz. A graded quiz fills the screen and the timer starts.

3

Answer the questions

Choose an answer, then Next. Lena saves each answer as soon as you pick it. On a laptop, you can also press A to D to pick an answer, and N or P for the next or previous question.
4

Check the overview

Choose the button that shows your count, like 8/10. It opens the Question overview, which shows the questions you’ve answered, skipped or not reached yet. Choose a question to go to it.

5

Submit

Choose Submit at the top, then Submit again. Lena tells you how many questions you haven’t answered. Once you submit, you can’t change your answers.

Submitted. The score comes when your lecturer releases results.

The rules of a graded quiz

  • Stay on the quiz. If you switch to another tab or app, or leave fullscreen, Lena makes you wait before you can carry on. The wait gets longer each time. The timer keeps running while you wait, so turn off notifications before you start.
  • The timer turns orange in the last minute and red in the last 30 seconds.
  • When time runs out, Lena hands in what you’ve answered. You’ll see “Time’s up”.
  • You can come back. If the quiz page closes by accident, or your phone switches off, open the quiz again and choose Resume quiz. This works on the same phone or computer, or a different one. (On a different one, the first button may say Start quiz; the next screen says Resume quiz.) Coming back counts as leaving, so you wait first. The timer keeps running while you’re away.
  • You need the internet to start. If you lose it partway through, keep going. Each answer is saved on your phone or computer the moment you choose it: under the question you’ll see “Saved on this device”, then “Sent” once it reaches Lena. If you hand in while offline, you’ll see “Submission saved”, and Lena sends it as soon as it can, even if you close the page. Answers you chose before time ran out still count if they get through shortly after; answers chosen after time is up don’t.
  • Starting late: if your lecturer allows it, you can start after the end time. The Late entries row on Details says until when.

Your result

For a graded quiz, the Your result tab says “Your results aren’t released yet” at first. Your score appears when your lecturer releases the results, or when the quiz closes if they’ve set it up that way. Then you see your score, how long you took, how many you got right, wrong or left out, and each question.

Troubleshooting

You need the internet to start a graded quiz. Connect, then choose Start quiz again.
You switched away or left fullscreen. Wait for the countdown to finish, then choose Continue quiz. The wait is longer each time.
You can take a graded quiz only once, and this one is done or closed. Your result shows on Your result once it’s released.
Check your internet connection and choose Submit again. Your answers are kept safe on your phone or computer until then.
