Lena Agent can mark a whole class against your rubric. It reads each submission, picks a level for every criterion, writes feedback, and tells you which marks it’s unsure of. Nothing is saved until you approve it, and students see nothing until you release the grades.

Three ways to start

The first two open the same grading card in a chat. The third fills the grade form for one student. See suggest marks for one student below.

Mark a class

1

Ask Lena to mark it

In the sidebar, choose AI Agent. Pick the course with All courses under the message box, then say which assignment to mark. Name it as it appears in the course.
2

Let it work

Lena works through the submissions. The card shows “N of M graded” with a bar, and you can start on the first ones before it finishes.
3

Read the summary

The card says how many it’s sure of and how many have a mark it’s unsure of. Under For your review, each criterion it doubted is listed with how many students it affects and the question it had, such as “Your rubric doesn’t say if run-ons count”.

4

Approve the ones it’s sure of

Approve N saves the grades Lena is sure of, without opening each one. They’re saved in Review: you still check them before you can release.
5

Review the rest

Review N opens the students it was unsure of, one at a time: the total, Lena’s reasoning, a score and comment for each criterion, and the general feedback. A criterion it doubted says Needs a look.
  • Approve saves the grade as Lena gave it, and moves to the next student.
  • Change lets you set each criterion’s points and edit the feedback. Choose Save to keep your version.
  • The arrows move between students without saving.

One student, opened: each criterion’s score, how sure Lena is, and the feedback the student will read.

When every grade is saved, the card says how many are Graded, In Review and Not graded. Review N takes you through the ones you approved all at once. Choose Looks right on each. Not ready to decide? Skip saves every undecided grade in Review, so you can check them later from the assignment’s Submissions tab.

Release the grades

Once nothing is left in Review and the deadline has passed, the card’s Release grades asks you to confirm, then students can see their grades and feedback. Releasing can’t be undone. Until then the button says what it’s waiting for, such as “You can release after the deadline”. You can also clear Review and release from the assignment itself: see grades in Review.

Suggest marks for one student

When you’re grading in the assignment’s Submissions tab, Lena can fill in one student’s rubric grade for you.
1

Open the submission and choose Grade

The rubric form opens beside the student’s work.
2

Choose Suggest with AI

Lena reads the work and fills a level, points and a comment for each criterion, with a line on why. Choose Cancel to stop it.
3

Check it and save

A note says “Lena suggested these scores.” Change anything you disagree with, then choose Save. Nothing is saved until you do.
If you’d already started the grade, Lena asks first: Fill only what’s empty keeps your scores, comments and feedback; Replace with Lena’s suggestion overwrites them.

Good to know

  • It needs a rubric. Lena marks against the rubric’s criteria and levels. You can’t add a rubric to an assignment once it’s published. Grade that one yourself, or ask Lena to draft a rubric for the next one.
  • The assignment must be published, with marks that match the rubric’s total.
  • Only work handed in online can be read. “There’s no work handed in online for Lena to read” means there’s nothing to suggest from. If Lena couldn’t open a file, the note says so. Check that one yourself.
  • You always decide. Grades are never saved, and never released, without you, whatever approval setting you’ve chosen.
  • It uses your allowance. Marking a class and each Suggest with AI count towards your daily allowance.
  • If it stops partway, the card says “Stopped at N”. The ones it marked are fine to review. Choose Retry to mark the rest.
