# School Admin Guide

> Everything school administrators need to know about managing their school on Lena — users, academic structure, courses, and CBT oversight.

The Lena School Admin App is your control center for managing your school. From
setting up your academic structure and adding users to overseeing courses and
CBT exams — everything happens at
[school.lena.africa](https://school.lena.africa).

  The School Admin App is a web-based dashboard optimized for desktop
  browsers. It is not available as a mobile app.

## Your dashboard

When you log in, you land on the **Dashboard** — your school's overview at a
glance.

The dashboard shows key statistics:

| Stat                 | What it shows                                      |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| **Total students**   | Number of students with profiles at your school    |
| **Total teachers**   | Number of teachers registered                      |
| **Total admins**     | Number of school administrators                    |
| **Total courses**    | Number of courses in your school                   |
| **Active CBT exams** | Number of CBT exams currently running or scheduled |

## Sidebar navigation

The School Admin App uses a sidebar for navigation:

| **User Directory**   | Manage students, teachers, and admins              |
| **School Structure** | Configure grades, faculties, sessions, and periods |

## Admin roles and permissions

School admins have different sub-roles with varying levels of access:

| Sub-role               | Permissions                                                                                       |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Super Admin**        | Full access to all school operations. Can manage other admins, structure, users, and all features |
| **Academic Admin**     | Can manage academic structure, courses, and users. Cannot manage other admins                     |
| **Non-Academic Admin** | Limited to non-academic operations                                                                |

  The person who creates the school is automatically assigned the **Super
  Admin** role.

## Getting started checklist

New to the School Admin App? Follow these steps to get your school fully set up:

  Complete steps 1-3 before the academic period begins. Teachers and students
  can start using Lena as soon as their accounts are created and the structure
  is in place.
