# Frequently asked questions

> Short answers to the questions schools, teachers and students ask most about Lena.

## Lena and your account

> [accordion] Is Lena free for my school right now?
>
> Yes, during early access. When you set up your school, the plan shows NGN 0 for one year, and you don't need a card.
> It won't be free forever. Lena will tell you before billing starts.

> [accordion] Do students pay?
>
> No. Students never pay for Lena.

> [accordion] Do I need a different account for each app?
>
> No. One email and password work in Lena for Schools, Lena for Teachers and Lena for Students, and at every school
> you belong to. See [schools and profiles](https://support.lena.africa/get-started/schools-and-profiles.md).

> [accordion] Can I use Lena on my phone?
>
> Yes, for everything. Open the app's address in your phone's browser. You can add any of the apps to your home screen
> so it opens like any other app. See [Lena on your phone](https://support.lena.africa/get-started/phone-and-offline.md).

> [accordion] Does Lena work without internet?
>
> Yes, for a lot. All three apps open offline with your current courses. Students can keep answering a quiz or exam
> they've started, and hand in assignments, quizzes and exams: Lena sends them when you're back online. Teachers and
> admins can look at what's saved, but changing anything needs a connection. See
> [offline](https://support.lena.africa/get-started/phone-and-offline.md#without-a-connection).

> [accordion] Can parents see their child’s grades?
>
> Not yet. There are no parent accounts.

## For students

> [accordion] How do I join a course?
>
> Choose **Enrol**, then tick courses you're eligible for, or choose **Enter code** and type the code your lecturer
> shared. You're in straight away. See [join a course](https://support.lena.africa/students/join-a-course.md).

> [accordion] Can I resubmit an assignment?
>
> No. Once you submit, you can't change it or submit again. Check everything before you choose **Submit**. See
> [assignments](https://support.lena.africa/students/assignments.md).

> [accordion] Can I retake a quiz?
>
> Only a practice quiz. A graded quiz, and every exam, has one attempt. See [quizzes](https://support.lena.africa/students/quizzes.md).

> [accordion] Why can’t I see my quiz or exam result?
>
> Your lecturer hasn't released them yet. Some quizzes and exams release results by themselves when the quiz closes or
> the exam ends. Practice quiz scores show straight away.

> [accordion] Why are my grades 0, or so low?
>
> Every published assignment, quiz and exam counts towards your total. Anything you haven't handed in, or that hasn't
> been released yet, counts as 0 until it's scored. Open a course in **Grades** to see "Missing work". See
> [grades](https://support.lena.africa/students/grades.md).

> [accordion] What happens if I leave the page during an exam?
>
> Your exam isn't submitted, but you have to wait before you can carry on, and the timer keeps running. The wait gets
> longer each time you leave. See [exams](https://support.lena.africa/students/exams.md).

## For teachers

> [accordion] Why can’t students see my course?
>
> It's still a draft, or they aren't in a group allowed to join. In the course's **Settings** tab, set **Who can
> join** and how much assignments, quizzes and exams are worth, then publish it. See [publish a
> course](https://support.lena.africa/teachers/publish-a-course.md).

> [accordion] Why can’t students see my quiz?
>
> It's still a draft. Add at least one question and choose **Publish**. Students can take it from its start time. An
> exam also needs **Approve** after **Publish**. See [quizzes](https://support.lena.africa/teachers/quizzes.md) and [exams](https://support.lena.africa/teachers/exams.md).

> [accordion] Why did students who didn’t submit get 0?
>
> Releasing an assignment's grades gives 0 to everyone who handed nothing in, and closes the assignment. See [grading
> and releasing](https://support.lena.africa/teachers/grading-and-releasing.md).

> [accordion] Can I edit an assignment or quiz after publishing it?
>
> No. Once published, it can't be changed, so every student sees the same thing. You can choose **Extend deadline** on
> its page, or choose **⋮** → **Duplicate** (**Duplicate quiz** for a quiz) to make a new draft copy.

> [accordion] How do I add students to my course?
>
> Students add themselves. Students in the groups under **Who can join** can pick the course from their list. To let
> anyone else at your school in, share the entry code: open the course, choose **⋮** → **Copy entry code**. Anyone
> with the code can join while the course is accepting new students. See [join a course](https://support.lena.africa/students/join-a-course.md).

> [accordion] How do I get Lena Agent?
>
> Lena's team switches it on for each school. Until then, choose **Request access** where you see "Lena Agent isn't on
> for your school". See [Lena Agent](https://support.lena.africa/agent/overview.md).

## For schools

> [accordion] Can we change our school type later?
>
> No. You choose University, K-12 or Other when you create the school, and you can't change it later. Choose the one
> that fits best. See [words your school uses](https://support.lena.africa/get-started/words-your-school-uses.md).

> [accordion] How do students get their sign-in details after an import?
>
> Straight after importing, choose **Download sign-in details**. You get a PDF with every student's sign-in details.
> You can only download it then, so keep it safe and give each student their own details privately. See [import
> students](https://support.lena.africa/schools/import-students.md).
