# Managing Your Profile

> Update your personal information, change your password or email, set notification preferences, and manage your Lena account.

Your Lena profile contains your personal information and account settings. You
can update your details, change security settings, and manage notification
preferences from any Lena app.

  **Before you begin:** You must be logged in to any Lena app. See [Logging

## Accessing your profile settings

To open your profile settings:

1. Tap your **profile icon** or **avatar** (usually in the top-right corner or
   sidebar)
2. Select **Profile** or **Account Settings**

## Personal information

You can update the following personal details:

* **First name** and **Last name**
* **Profile picture** — Upload or change your avatar
* **Phone number** — Add or update your phone number

  <Step title="Open your profile">
    Navigate to **Account Settings** → **Personal Information**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Edit your details">
    Tap the field you want to change and update the value.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save changes">
    Tap **Save** to apply your updates. A confirmation message appears when
    your changes are saved.

## Change your email

If you need to change the email address associated with your Lena account:

  <Step title="Go to Security settings">
    Navigate to **Account Settings** → **Security** → **Change Email**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your new email">
    Type the new email address you want to use.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify the new email">
    Lena will send an OTP to your new email. Enter the code to confirm the
    change. A confirmation message appears when your email is updated
    successfully.

  After changing your email, you'll need to use the new email to log in.

## Change your password

To update your password:

    Navigate to **Account Settings** → **Security** → **Change Password**.

  <Step title="Enter your current password">
    Type your existing password to confirm your identity.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your new password">
    Type and confirm your new password. A confirmation message appears when
    your password is updated.

## Phone verification

You can add and verify a phone number on your account:

1. Go to **Account Settings** → **Verify Phone**
2. Enter your phone number
3. You'll receive a verification code via SMS
4. Enter the code to verify

## Notification preferences

Control how and when Lena notifies you:

1. Go to **Account Settings** → **Notification Preferences**
2. Toggle notifications on or off for different categories (e.g., assignments,
   announcements, grades)
3. Choose between **push notifications**, **email notifications**, or both

  We recommend keeping notifications on for assignments and announcements so
  you don't miss important deadlines.

## Delete your account or profile

### Deleting a school profile

To remove a school profile from your account, see
[School Profiles → Removing a profile](/general/school-profiles#removing-a-school-profile).

### Deleting your entire account

If you want to permanently delete your Lena account and all associated data:

1. Go to **Account Settings** → **Delete Account**
2. Read the warning about what will be deleted
3. Confirm the deletion

<Warning>
  Account deletion is permanent. All your data — profiles, submissions,
  grades, and course history — will be removed and cannot be recovered.
